The Peles Castle is located in Sinaia City, 44 km away from Brasov and 122 km away from Bucharest. Its building started in 1873 by the King Carol I of Romania, being the summer residence of the royal family. It is one of the most important historical buildings from Romania, being unique also through its historical and artistic value, being one of the most important monuments of this kind in Europe.

    Sinaia is located at the foot of Bucegi Mountains, especially known due to its tourist significance. We can find here also the Peles Castle, the former summer residence of King Carol I. You can also visit Sinaia Monastery, built in 1695 by the High Spatharus Mihai Cantacuzino. Sinaia is also known as spa resort.

     Called “The Cathedral of the Carpathians”, the Sinaia Monastery is located within a wonderful natural area, dating since the 17th century, representing the historical identity of the city, being the first building in this territory. The founder of Sinaia Monastery is the Spatharus Mihail Cantacuzino. After a pilgrimage to the Holy Land (Jerusalem, Nazareth) and to the Mount Sinai, Cantacuzino decided to build a monastery in the Bucegi Mountains on his return to the Romanian Kingdom, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, bearing the name of  the Mount Sinai.
